Hill: I don't remember ever having such deep divisions between Pristina and Washington

US Ambassador to Belgrade Christopher Hill has said that the United States of America has substantial problems with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti connected because of the unrecognizable situation in the north. Hill said he's insecure if Kurt can still be considered a US partner, but he said this [...]

Hill has said it is uncertain whether Kurti can still be considered a US partner, but has said this decision belongs to the American Embassy in Pristina.

I think we have a problem with Mr. Kurti, he's not ready to admit it. I think we have some very basic problems with him if we can still consider him a partner. But I leave this decision to our embassy in Pristina”, has stated Hill to the Voice of America.

Hill has stressed that Kurti must make some changes in his approach to the north, if he wants to count as a partner to the US and the EU. According to him, this has been made clear by Ambassador to Pristina Jeffrey Havenier.

He has said he remembers ever having such large divisions between Pristina and Washington.

“... I think Mr. Kurti has been fully informed by our ambassador to Pristina, by Mr. Lajcak and Mr. Escobar, that he will have to make some changes if he wants to account for us as a friend and partner. I don't remember ever seeing such deep divisions in the relationship between Pristina and Washington”, Hill said.

Meanwhile, speaking of Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, Hill has said they consider him a good partner.

Christopher Hill: We consider him a good partner, he and his government are good partners in the process. And we hope it will. We would like him to do what he can to relax the situation, and we see signs of application already. This is very positive”, it's Hill. / VOA
