He has declared after Thursday's meeting that he has reiterated demands that municipal mayors in the north exercise duties from other objects rather than municipal objects, as well as withdraw police from municipal facilities. He has also said that the US requires implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreements.
We also talked about the importance of moving forward with implementation of the basic agreement on normalising Kosovo-Serbia relations. I expressed my concerns about the situation in the north. We encourage the Government of Kosovo to help escalate, and we also see the government of Serbia taking steps to help achieve a better situation in the north”, he has said.
Havenier said it was a regular meeting.
The meeting was held a few days after the US sanctioned Kosovo with no participation in military exercises “Defender Europe 2023”.
The United States of America has criticised Government because of positions on municipal leaders in the north.
