US Ambassador Jeffrey Hovenier said he expects Prime Minister Albin Kurti to accept the EU's three-point plan for deceptling the situation in the north today in Brussels, as according to him, this is the right way to stop tensions.
It's hard to tell what we expect, our hope is to find a way to progress. The EU has been clear and the US has supported the view of a three-point plan to achieve decesification in the north, go to early elections with Serb participation and continue with full implementation by both sides of the agreements that have been reached. Our hope is to get out of this” situation, Hovenier said in an interview for RTV21, after meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, with whom he said they talked about a number of problems, including the current situation in northern Kosovo.
Hovnier said there is a short-term solution to the deespass of the situation, which is the EU's three-point plan.
The ambassador said all Western allies have supported the three-point plan and that Kurti expects him to accept it and act properly.
“He is prime minister from the country's democratic elections, and he has responsibilities in that direction. The US, EU, United Kingdom and our allies in NATO and many others have expressed our expectations on Kurti how he will manage the situation in the north. As I mentioned, we are all supporting the EU's three-point plan, and our hope is for him to accept this and act properly”, Saveer said.
Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq are expected to meet this afternoon in Brussels.
