Fried: Since 2008 I've seen American officials more angry than Havener

Former US Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Fried has spoken about recent developments in northern Kosovo. Fried has said the situation created in northern Kosovo is rooted in Serbia's irreversible rejection of Kosovo's independence, but that responsibility for the location that led to [...] incidents

The former American diplomat has declared that the Kosovo government must admit it has erred and withdrawn.

Fried has said he doesn't remember since 2008, an American government representative was as angry as the American ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Havenier, at the press conference.

According to him, relations between the United States of America and Kosovo have deteriorated greatly.

“at the same time, the current crisis appears to have been caused by the Kosovo government's mistakes. So, in all, Serbia may have responsibilities, for this strange situation, but the current crisis is something that has caused, I would say, the anger of the United States. I don't use that word easily, but I read Mr. Havenier's full statement, the American ambassador to Kosovo, at the press conference. And since Kosovo's independence in 2008, I don't remember a representative of the American government being as angry as he seemed. I think the Kosovo government has certainly made the decision under difficult circumstances, but the decision made the situation much worse, which was already complicated. This has resulted in the strong deterioration of the United States' relations with Kosovo. And that serves no one. It is unfortunate”, Fried stated, in an interview for the Serbian-language service of the Voice of America.

Fried has said Hovenier's focus on the responsibility of the Kosovo government was a sign that the United States is seriously angry with the decisions of the Kosovo government.

“I don't think protests and the readiness of the Serbian Army are useful. But I noticed that at the media conference, Ambassador Havenier was given the opportunity to task both sides with responsibility, and he did not. He focused on the responsibility of the Kosovo government. That left me the impression, that it was a sign that the United States is seriously angry with the decisions of the Kosovo government”, Fried has now declared.
