The EU is accelerating arms shipments to Ukraine to support Kiev's counterattack against Russian forces. The news was made by Interior Market Commissioner Thierry Breton in an interview for the French newspaper Le Parisien.
“We will speed up our efforts to send weapons and ammunition, this is a war of great intensity in which they play a critical role. We are preparing for the war to last many months or longer,” said Bretton citing commitment to supply. It's about a million high-caliber weapons within the next 12 months.
Earlier this month, Ukraine launched a counteroffensive to regain territory from Russian forces. Under these conditions, US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin urged Kiev's allies to dig deep into their pockets” to supply Kiev with more weapons and ammunition. / A2 CNN
