The European Union's special envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, after completing visits to Kosovo and Serbia, has informed EU High Representative of foreign policy and security Josep Borrell of the results. Later, Borrell has started to inform EU member states of the next steps to be taken.
That's what Free Europe, Peter Stano, EU spokesperson for foreign policy and security told Radio.
Stano answered the question about a draft with the proposal for the decree of the majority Serb Communists Association in Kosovo that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama sent him.
He said that the “each constructive contribution to the EU-launched dialogue, under which it is also being discussed for the Association of Serb majority municipalities, is welcome”.
The high representative is in constant contact with leaders in the region and with EU member states. As we have said several times in the past, discussions and drafting of the Association/Unibility statute can only develop in the framework of dialogue facilitated by the EU”, Stano stressed.
EU spokesman Stano confirmed that the plan was for 5 June and 6 June to hold the first session of drafting Association at the expert level and both sides had been sent invitations earlier. But, due to the escalation of the situation in northern Kosovo, EU special envoy Lajcak had to go to Kosovo and Serbia, and this meeting did not take place.
The EU's special envoy is willing to organise the draft meeting very soon and is in touch with both sides”, Stano stressed.
Meanwhile, diplomatic sources in Brussels teach that European Union member states have been informed of the visit Miroslav Lajcak and his American colleague, Gabriel Escobar, have had this week in Pristina and Belgrade. Their task was to convey demands for lowering tensions in the north and returning to dialogue.
