One of the points in the document is exclusively dedicated to the current situation in Kosovo and the dialogue it makes with Serbia, under the ease and mediation of the EU.
The European Council condemns the recent violent incidents in northern Kosovo and calls for the immediate deespass of the situation, given the key elements already highlighted by the European Union on June 3rd, 2023. The parties must create conditions for early elections in four municipalities in northern Kosovo. Failure to breach tensions will have negative” consequences, EC conclusions say.
The EU-mediated dialogue, led by the High Representative, and implementation of the normalisation and Annex agreement for implementation, is essential. This includes formation of the Serb-based Majority Commission Association”, the European Union Council, published in the communiqué displayed by the Foreign Policy Service, concludes.
After Croatia's Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic's summit, says the EU's commitment to resolving the situation is being demonstrated by these findings.
This is generally everyone's position. I think there is good will for stability, peace and co-operation, and the establishment of institutions on the basis of democratic elections. Of course, with the precondition for Serb residents in northern Kosovo to participate in this election, and not for them to boycott the process, as was the case two months ago when the” elections were held, Plenkov stressed, Klen Kosova.tv reported.
As for the punitive measures the union will apply to Kosovo, due to its inaction for escalation, Plenkovic said the EU must make the <x0-political balanced” and, according to him, not become convinced that only one side is being pressured.
