Elliot Page, film actor “Juno”, selected to get Oscar and film star “The Umbrella Academy” is Hollywood's most famous transgjiral man. In his memobook “Pageboy” he tells his story. Despite being objectively easier in Hollywood than in other parts [...]
Although Hollywood is objectively easier to be different than in other parts of the world where homosexuality is illegal, homophobic in the American-veried entertainment industry continues to be bigger than expected. Elliot Page deals with this issue in the new book with memories, “Pageboy,” published on June 6th.
A Book of Resistance
Page, which started acting as a child and received great fame for the role he played in the film “Yuno” (2007), which was selected to receive the Oscar award, was born on 21 February 1987. Recorded as a female after birth, he declared in December 2020 that it was transgiar. Since then, the actor has been using the Instagram to document his transition and activism to protect the rights of the transplantors.
Over the years, I had several thoughts of writing a book, but I never took the liberty of telling the truth and seemed impossible. I could barely find peace, no longer focus on such a thing,” writes the Page at the entrance of the book, explaining that for a long time all his mental energy has gone waste, trying to hide his problem. “Finally, I can be myself, in this body. ”
Stressing that many books have helped him in difficult times and that he may have saved life, he hopes that his story can also help others “to feel less lonely” on their journey. Page adds that sharing the experiences of diversity with others “is an important step in resisting those who want to turn us into invisible. ”

Just existence is impressive.
As in acronologically speaking, the history of the Pages spends its first time at the beginning of various stages of his life presenting the atmosphere of film scenes, various experiences “at the first time”, and relationships with people. It also tells of the time of growing up in Nova Scotia, Canada, during which he lived in two different homes, half the time with a very tired mother, who lives without a partner, and the other half of her father's new family, who belonged to two other brothers with a common father, and a wild stepparent for Pages.
One of the issues that is repeated over and over in the memories of Page is that he has never felt like a part of society, and that it took him long enough to realize that gender doubles were blacking his life.
He's been amazed at how other people managed to be so quiet with themselves: “and I'm not saying they're happy “”, maybe they're not happy, but they're at least able to exist. ”
The actor's path to accepting his gender identity and broadcasting it to the public has not been easy.
The book Page recalls the various experiences of injuries: death threats by a attending lunatic, directors seeking to sleep with a teenager - age actor, homophobic attacks by foreigners, including a dangerous experience in a Hollywood neighborhood that behaves well with the LGBTQ community, and daily homophobic injuries.

Hollywood, an obstacle to public appearance
Hollywood may think of herself as a progressive environment, but the experiences of Pages show how the film industry has pressured the actor to keep it open for a long time.
In 2008, an article in the newspaper Village Voice in New York, known as the country's first alternative weekly, speculated that Page may be lesbian. Page recalls that people from the film industry had told him that openly going public could have a negative impact on his actor career. He also remembers the pressure he has been exerted on many occasions, even vigorously, to wear high - heels and shoes to promote various activities, which has caused fears of the actor.
For example, Page talking about a romantic relationship with another actor LGBTQ, a relationship that has been kept secret for a long time, even from close friends. Only when he was 27 years old in 2014 did Page openly show up as a homosexual during a speech he gave at a conference during a human rights campaign.
The open exit was liberation, but we also mounted attacks on Pages. A chapter of the book entitled “Famous Achehole at Party,” The famous party bullshit” provides another example of Hollywood homophobic. An actor whose name is not given in the book and described simply as the known “ ” starts to provoke Page at a social meeting: “You are not gay. This thing doesn't exist. You're just afraid of men. ” He continues threatening, threats heard by many others gathered at the party saying: “I'm going to fuck you to make you realize you aren't gay. I'm going to give you one that fucks, make you realize you're not gay. ”
Time of exploration and heart failure
But for Pagen, the public appearance as homosexual marked a new period of exploration.
A romance discussed in the book occurred when Peace was filming “X-Men: Days of Futre Pass” (2014) ʹ (Albanian Men X: Days of the future”, along with actress Kate Mara (who played in “ (The House of Letters). Kate Mara was at the time meeting with Max Minghella. Mara's boyfriend did not go against it when Mara told him about his feelings for Page.
When their relationship ended, Page realized that the same story was being repeated throughout his life: Falling in love with people who were not fully able to be with him.

New Joy
After opening as a transplant in 2020, Page was able to operate in 2021 when someone else cancelled the operation he had planned. The actor says he is aware of his privileges, while many other transplants wait for years to perform operations or are not allowed at all to pass into such procedure.
The operation took place before shooting the third film season “The Umbrella Academy,” in which he and he play. The superherone showmaker has been very supportive of Pages during his transition and, in later season, the personality he plays also shows up as a transgiar man.
In addition to the ever - hated attacks on social media, Page mentions in the book some offensive comments made by the “friends of Hollywood, after his first appearance in the public as a transgiAL man.
However, despite the challenges, Page says he has found some sort of calm, being aware that he has been writing his history at a time that has been still taking testosterone and his body has still been developing.
This is just the beginning,” he writes. “Give me the opportunity to be in this world happier than ever before.” / DW
