A statement by Josep Borelli on behalf of 27 member states, in which “violence against citizens, KFOR troops, order forces and media“, has been published on the European Council page.
This statement by Borell says that “Dhuna could have been avoided and avoided”.
From the EU, they say they firmly stick to NATO's mission and the EU mission EULEX in meeting their respective mandates.
The EU has called on Kosovo and Serbia immediately and unconditionally to take measures for de-progressing the situation, prevent the use of divisive rhetoric, and refrain from any further and uncoordinated action.
“Peace should be restored urgently”, said in response.
From the EU, they say failure to escalate tensions will lead to negative consequences.
From Kosovo, they have said they expect it to act de-intensively and immediately suspend police operations in the vicinity of municipalities in the north, and also require that mayors temporarily carry out their duties in other objects.
It is also required that elections in four northern municipalities be organised as soon as possible, in a comprehensive way.
We expect Kosovo Serbs to participate in these elections”, the EU's statement stresses.
Brussels has voiced concern over the military's readiness from Serbia and has called for the two states to be organised for finding a sound solution to the situation in the north.
They have also called for implementation of the basic agreement and Anex, with particular emphasis on Association, saying that the foundation should begin without delay and without further preconditions.
The European Union expects Kosovo and Serbia to act responsibly and immediately engage in EU-mediated Dialogue to find a sustainable solution to the situation in northern Kosovo that guarantees security, security and participation democracy for all citizens and paves the way for implementation of the Road Agreement towards Normalisation and its Annex. This includes starting without any further delay or preconditions of work for establishing the Association/Unition of the Serb Majority municipalities”.
