American diplomat who knows North: Must be pressured to let Serbs decide on their own

Since the end of the war in Kosovo, the country's north has remained one of the areas that have consistently caused unrest, tensions and uncertainty. Similarly, it has happened this year, when the Government of Kosovo has decided to send the mayors to their working places under police escorts, writes Gazeta Express. This action has prompted [...]
The move has prompted the reactions and protests of local Serbs who had boycotted the elections under Vuciqi's directives, while the government of Kosovo has for the first time been strongly reproved by the United States of America, calling it a part that has sparked tensions.
After the events of May 29th, where 30 KFOR soldiers remain injured, in the direction of the Kosovo government there has been a great international pressure, to remove police from municipalities and for young leaders to exercise their duty from other objects. New elections are already sought and new elections are discussed.
The US, except for Kosovo, has also asked Serbia's president to curb military readiness and contribute to the de-passing of the situation.
Regarding Western access to Kosovo and Serbia, following recent events in the northwrote the retired American diplomat, Gerard Gallucci.
Gallu, while burdening events that have led to tensioning the situation in the north, has said many local Serbs may have been ready to participate in the vote, but says they were ordered by Belgrade to boycott them.
He also mentions the financing that Belgrade makes in that part, including criminals eager to keep things uncluttered.
According to the US diplomat, who has also been regional representative of the United Nations for the north from 2005 to 2008, until the US, the EU and QUINT pressure Kosovo to produce a solution, they should pressure or even lure Vucinqiqi to allow Kosovo's northern Serbs to decide on their own.
Gallu says Serbia must also play fair.
“While the US and QUINT members from the EU pressure Pristina to offer solutions, they must either pressure or lure Vuciqi to allow the northerns to decide on their own. Serbia must also play toward”, Galluci concluded.
