Former American diplomat alarms: Kosovo can't handle US as endless source of support

Former US Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Fried has spoken about recent developments in northern Kosovo. Fried has said the situation created in northern Kosovo is rooted in Serbia's irreversible rejection of Kosovo's independence, but that responsibility for the location that led to [...] incidents
In an interview for Voice of America, Fried has said Kosovo's prime minister must find a way to back down, so the situation in the country's north can be reduced.
“The governments make mistakes and I hope, at some level and perhaps at all levels, the Kosovo government will accept this, but it is a difficult period. At the same time, this will not change the fact that Serbia must face reality. Now, I hope that the Kosovo government will find a way to correct its initial mistakes”, he has said.
The former American diplomat warned that Kosovo should not take American support for granted, as this would be a wrong approach.
I think the Kosovo government thinks American support is automatic despite their actions. The United States made a decision to support Kosovo's independence in the early years of this century. I was part of the decision-making process. That was the choice we made. We could have made other choices, but I think we chose wisely. However, Kosovo should take advantage of this opportunity and consolidate its position and not simply address the United States as an endless source of blind, unquestioning support under any circumstances. It is recommended to benefit from the United States and Europe”, he has said further./Periscopi/
