Varhely comes to Kosovo, meets state leaders, opposition

European Commissioner for Enlargement Olivier Varhely will visit Kosovo on May 25th, with what he is expected to meet with state leaders as well as with opposition representatives. “These meetings will be an opportunity to review EU-Kosovo relations and discuss recent developments, as well as key reforms, including the area of reform [...]
“These meetings will be an opportunity to review EU-Kosovo relations and discuss recent developments, as well as key reforms, including the area of reform in justice, energy transition and the fight against organised crime and corruption”, it is said in the communiqué issued by Varhely's cabinet.
He is expected to hold meetings with the country's president, Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, opposition leaders, as well as civil society representatives.
During his stay in the country, Commissioner Varhely and Minister of Internal Affairs and Public Administration Jhelal Svecla will launch the EU-Kosovo Home Affairs Programme in order to further harmonise Kosovo's actions in law enforcement and combat organised crime with EU standards.
This programme, funded by the EU of 6.5m euros, will be implemented in a three-year period with the support of France, Italy and Belgium and will contribute to strengthening the capacities of Kosovo institutions in fighting organised crime and strengthening international co-operation.
