They say they are being threatened by RTK leaders.
In addition, the union says it is unacceptable for the public broadcaster management to be made up of only men.
Full response:
On Day of September 1st, RTK workers without pay, while Board and Management take time and finance to stay in one of Rugova's luxury hotels.
RTK's salary for most workers is the only source of financial revenues, and it's disturbing that none of RTK's directors talk about why they have not yet been executed.
For the Union, it will be unacceptable for RTK workers to continue to be violated of basic labor rights as lack of working conditions, ranging from chair to work space, arbitration injustices, revenge motives degradation, disrespecting the Koletive Treaty, and so on.
May 1 reminds us of the event in Chicago, U.S.A., 1867, where the reception wave had hit hard workers' union organizations, closing the headquarters and arresting their leaders.
155 years after this event, specifically in December 2022, while the head of the RTK Independent Union was holding a meeting in her office, from RTK's leadership at the address of the union chairman, had come a threatening email with punitive measures. A few days after this email, the chairman of the RTK Independent Union is degraded for five degrees, closes his office, switchs the lock cylinder and is unable to access the vehicles. What's left of this is going to be identical to the Chicago event is arresting union representatives.
For the Union it is unacceptable for the RTK Management to be led by 100% men and the union to repeat the application exactly on 1 May, seeking responsibility for the injustices women have been subjected to in the race for these positions.
It is unacceptable for the Union to hunt down union representatives and workers who raise their voices for better working conditions, against mismanagement and abusive phenomena.
The union will continue to engage for RTK workers to do dignified work in the service of fair public information, and their legally guaranteed rights to be implemented in practice.
The SPRTK urges Kosovo institutions to resolve the property and financial issue of RTK outside the state budget as precondition for editorial independence and financial stability in the public broadcaster.
Viewing May 1 as a day of international worker solidarity, the union will continue to cultivate this value in the future.
Solidarisation with workers would have to come from the RTK Board and Management, performing their duties at the work office, which may not have the desired standard but at least have many times better than that of workers.
