Ukraine's military said on Friday that Wagner fighters were strengthening positions in Bakhmut with the possible intention of apprehending the city, Aljazeera writes, broadcasts Clankosova.tv.
“Now we're seeing them withdrawing (the fighters) from all the offensive lines where the Wagner fighters were, they're pulling (them) towards Bakhmut”, said Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malar on Ukrainian television.
Yevgeny Pigozin, the leader of the Wagner Group's mercenary force, Russia, had yesterday claimed that his forces would leave the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, which they have been trying to retrieve since last summer.
Prigozhin said they would withdraw on May 10th by ending their involvement in the longest and bloodiest battle of war because of major losses and insufficient ammunition supplies.
