The Federation of Karate in Kosovo (FKK) has announced to clubs that it is impossible to participate Kosovo's Karatists in the Mediterranean Karate Championship for Cadet, Junior and Seniors.
As noted, the Federation has met all required requirements. But, in the Federation announcement, it becomes known that Tunisia has not issued visas for Kosovo contestants.
“During our communication with officials of Tunisia Karate Federation, we have been told that, because Tunisia does not recognise the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, a separate code is needed that is issued by the Tunisia Ministry of Foreign Affairs to receive literature (visa) for entering Tunisia. Even though our request has been submitted to the Sunnisian authorities, we are unfortunately not equipped with visas”, writes among other things in announcing the Federation of Karate in Kosovo.
COHA owns the full e-mail of the Federation that sent it to clubs. But, the announcement of a failure to travel to Tunisia has not been made public by the Federation or by the Kosovo Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The KOK has been reported on developments.
“As the Federation, we have also sought support from the Kosovo Olympic Committee, which has submitted an official request to the Tunisia Olympic Committee to help us on the visa issue, but we have not received positive answers. As a result of these events, Kosovo's representative's trip to the Karate Mediterranean Championship is impossible. We are very concerned about this situation and we hope that such acts of discrimination do not take place in the future”, writes at the end of the Federation's announcement.
It's the next hit for Kosovo karate people. They were not allowed to participate with state symbols either in the karate European held in Guadayara, Spain, in March. Karateists also remained outside the European youth held in Cyprus. Cypriot authorities had conditioned Kosovo's presentation by giving up the state symbols.
