Request for burning mandates in the north praised blackmail against Kosovo

The setback to Kosovo is assessing the European Union's request to depreciate the mandates of four newly elected mayors in northern municipalities. Knowers of local government issues say the EU had to do much earlier to analyse situations that could be presented on the ground, rather than come up with such demands after the election process. The man trying to show he is a peace promoter has warned of a new crisis in northern Kosovo.
Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has done so after saying Prime Minister Albin Kurti has refused the EU's bid to depreciate the mandates of newly elected Albanian mayors in four northern municipalities.
Rejecting this proposal has confirmed even Kosovo Government officials, saying no demands can be made that mandates be lost by failing to take the mayors' oath.
Izmir Zeqiri, who was elected chairman of Zubin Potok on April 23rd, says there is no information on what has been discussed in Brussels on Tuesday.
But, he adds, for the mandate he has received, he is willing to swear and bring it to the end.
We are preparing to carry out this ceremonial act soon in a week or ten days. We have invitations from the Ministry of Local Power, so we'll meet up and harmonise our works”, he declared.
However, Zeqiri adds that whatever decision will be co-ordinated with Government.
Willing to declare this issue has not been the chairman of Leposaviqi, Lulzim Hetemi.
EU demand, meanwhile, calls former Local Power Minister Sadri Ferati unacceptable.
He says that for the current situation, Brussels has had to make accounts before holding elections.
This in some form is pressure and not to say the humiliation now proven to become institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, and that is unacceptable. But there is no rule out the possibility that there will be a decrease in a discussion and a political solution to the situation created”, Ferati has said.
Albanian mayors in the four northern municipalities have been elected on April 23rd, following the boycott of the process by the Serb List.
