Response The PDK has come after US Ambassador to Kosovo's statements Jeffrey Hovenier, who said that the annulment of exercises “Defender Europe que23” is the first “punishment for Kosovo”, while also said the US “has little enthusiasm to commit to Kosovo”.
“The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo expresses deep disappointment with the Kosovo Government's uncoordinated actions with the strategic allies of our country, which have already begun to result in direct penalties, as Kosovo was excluded from NATO's largest international exercise in the Balkan region, “Defender Europe 2023<62>. This exception is a concrete sign of the deterioration of Kosovo's reports with the US and NATO, and is a warning of other consequences if the Government of the Republic of Kosovo does not start to behave responsibly”, it is said in the PDK's response.
The PDK's leadership has strongly condemned the violence of criminal groups directed at members of KFOR and the Kosovo Police on Monday, especially against media representatives who have been hampered and attacked in carrying out office.
The PDK has said that the mayors of Zubin-Potok and Zvecan have shown caution.
The <x0 members of the Headship expressed full support for the mayors of Zubin Potok and Zvecan, who come from the PDK ranks, who have responsiblely shown willingness to serve all citizens, indiscriminately, but also call for restoring normality to enable the implementation of their mandates. Once again, in view of the gravity and complexity of the situation, as well as tensions raised in the northern part of the country, the headship of the Democratic Party of Kosovo calls on the president and prime minister to collect the Kosovo Security Council urgently. The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo estimates that the created situation requires responsible access to Kosovo institutions, rather than present populist actions that could bring long-term consequences to the country's future. The Democratic Party of Kosovo invites all Kosovo citizens to remain calm and not become part of any violent manipulation or behaviour that violates order, law and democracy in our country and risks long-term consequences for our state”, the PDK says.
