The Prosecutor's Office said on May 5th that the father of seventh graders was questioned after he, identified with the initials V. K, charged with a serious “act against general security”.
As the prosecution's “office was announced in advance will propose to the court that the suspects be appointed the detention measure, so that there will be no influence on witnesses and not to repeat the work in a short time and because of the anxiety caused by the public”.
The prosecution said the father of the 13-year-old “during the hearing denied that he committed the crime” and that “presented in detail his defence”.
The V.K. allegedly trained his son to use firearms and ammunition, taking him to the shooters' association to practice firing guns, despite the fact that he is 13 years old and such activities and training are not appropriate for his age”, the Prosecutor in Belgrade said.
As soon as he arrived at school, the suspected pupil identified with the initials K. K, pulled the firearms out of his bag and shot the school guard, then the student and the history teacher, the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs said on May 3rd.
After the arrest, the Interior Ministry announced that the student had used two pistols to carry out the attack and that he had taken the guns from his father.
Shortly after that incident, the student's father was arrested. Interior Minister Bratislav Gashic said both weapons were on leave.
In announcing the Public Prosecutor's Office, the suspect “had not provided conditions for safe preservation of weapons and ammunition for them to fall into the hands of unauthorized persons, whether the weapons were locked in the vault or in a place that would not be opened easily”.
“suspected that as a result of his actions, on May 3rd his son managed to take possession of two pistols, which the V.K. has permission for them, which had not been safely preserved”, the report said.
According to the prosecution, <x0fmija took arms and ammunition to school, where he fired on them and took the life of the security guard and eight students and seriously injured six students and a teacher”.
The prosecution said the alleged attacker “has no criminal responsibility under the laws in force, because he is under 14” and that he has been placed under surveillance at a psychiatric hospital for children and young people”. / REL/
