Through a Facebook status, Minister Krasniqi has said that following the oath of the mayors who made yesterday the new heads of Leposaviqi, Zvecan and Zubin Potok, they must exercise their duties in municipal offices.
“Days were sworn in by the mayors of the Zvecan municipality, Zubin Potok and Leposaviqi. For them today is their first day of work. Work and service that must be performed by Communist offices along with civil servants”, he wrote.
According to Krasniqi, the municipality is citizens and they cannot remain without municipality
“They have pledged to serve all citizens indiscriminately. Both the ministry and central institutions give our full support in fulfilling the constitutional and legal obligations of the new mayors. And as central institutions, we have an obligation to provide for them and enable them to fulfill these” obligations, he wrote.
Tens of people have gathered through the courtyards of three Serb majority municipalities in northern Kosovo, most specifically Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Zvecan.
Alarms have also been issued in these areas.
Kosovo police used tear gas and shock-bombs to disperse citizens assembled before the municipal object in Zvecan-based Serb-run municipality in the northern part of the country.
Similarly, police announced that they were assisting the new mayors of northern municipalities: Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, to enter the official sites of the respective municipalities.
The leaders of these Serb-run municipalities all Albanians were sworn in the previous day in public buildings, such as schools, because of security.
Although they said that, soon, they would start working on municipal facilities, it was not clear when such a step would be taken.
In all four Serb-run municipalities in the north, alarm sirens were first heard, while citizens were gathered before municipal facilities in Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Leposaviq. /Periscopi/
