Lawyer Musa: There has been reason for continuing detention of Selimi Krasniqi

Skender Musa, who is an accredited lawyer near Specialised Chambers in The Hague, has said there has been no reason for Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi to continue the detention measure. He said there is no danger that Selimi and Krasniqi, if protected in freedom, will influence witnesses [...]
He said there is no danger that Selimi and Krasniqi, if protected in freedom, will influence witnesses or the Special Court's justice.
I consider that there is a legal basis for these accused to be protected in freedom, and there is no danger of being protected in freedom against the judicial process, influenced by witnesses, or avoided in some form of justice. The only reason for the court to continue the detention measure is the weight issue of the criminal act, but this should not be demining for continuing detention, because Krasniqi and Selimi are public figures, are willing to carry out the court's decisions and to adhere to those decisions, not to prevent justice work, there has been no reason to continue the detention measure”, he said in RTV Dukajni.
In addition, lawyer Musa has mentioned cases when former Serb police members who committed war crimes have been allowed to defend themselves in freedom from The Hague tribunal, while, according to him, it is unclear why Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi are not also being allowed.
He has criticised the Special Court for seeing former KLA leaders as still guilty without completing the trial.
