Header The PDK has said in RTV Dukaagjini that the government has had to create conditions and context for the mayors to take the oath and not pressure candidates through the line ministers to change the country for the oath ceremony.
According to him, if there are no conditions for the chairmanial oath ceremony there should be official communicates from the government, rather than communications through ministers.
“There has been pressure from the government and MAPL to change location and date. The government and ministers should not hide, they should recommend a specific location and an hour to keep. All that belongs to us and all that we have asked respectfully and without pressure, we have said to create the context and conditions for the mayors to take the oath. I don't know who they're trying to deceive themselves because we can't be misled”, Krasniqi said.
The mayors elected in the three northern municipalities -- Leposaviq, Zubin-Potok and Zvecan -- are expected to take an oath Thursday at 10:00 a.m., at municipal public facilities, and not municipal assemblies.
The secretary confirmed this today. The PDK, Betim Joschi, while the Ministry of Management of Local Power said that during Tuesday they would come up with an official announcement about setting the date for the oath of three mayors in northern municipalities.
“At the request of MAPL has been set the date 25 May for the oath of mayors in three northern municipalities in the public facilities of”, Secretary Yoshi said.
On April 23rd, in northern Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok were held the extraordinary local elections. According to the CEC, the Vetevendosje Movement won the mayoral race in northern Mitrovica and Leposaviq. The Democratic Party of Kosovo won in Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
The Serbian list, the largest Serb party in Kosovo, did not participate in the elections and called on Serbian citizens to boycott the election process.
The municipalities in the north were left without mayors from November last year, when Serb representatives in that area resigned from their jobs, due to disagreement with a Kosovo Government decision to reregister Serbian illegal license plates.
