Kosovo Police: The situation in the north has calmed down

Police say specific criminal individuals and groups, in addition to attacks on police officials, where 5 of them have been injured, have tried to block various roads with gravel, stones and heavy transport vehicles.

“Just as it was known through official reports, today the Kosovo Police (PK), according to legal and constitutional authorisations, has assisted the mayors of northern municipalities in Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok, to exercise their right at work, at official municipal objects”, it is said at the Kosovo Police Report.

In order to prevent direct danger displayed to the lives of police officials, the police units in self-defence had been forced to react with their legitimate means, including tear gas for spreading the crowd, and to enable mayors to enter municipal objects.

The report to the media has said that mayors of municipalities after police actions have entered municipal facilities, in their jobs.

“As a consequence of the five) attacks, police officials have suffered slight bodily injuries, four (4) official vehicles were damaged, one of which was set on fire by being damaged in the field, several civilian cars including journalists, as well as three (3) EULEX cars were damaged. Also in some cases at various locations have been heard gun shootings, which are being carried out investigations in co-operation with justice bodies”, the report says, among other things.

Also, it has been said that further investigations and police actions will be undertaken in co-operation and co-ordination with justice bodies, in the case described as “Centim of the Constitutional Order and Cause of the General Danger & Destruction of Riches”.
