This until, ” The U.S. is concerned that he has taken uncoordinated steps, and the consequences will be immediate”, including “mowming to non-recognition states”.
According to him, this has been made clear by the harshest reaction from the highest level, Secretary Anthony Blinken. Hüvenier made known what two requirements Kurt must be carried out urgently.
The first”, the withdrawal of police from municipal buildings, and second, so that new mayors do not exercise functions in municipal buildings, since they did not get more than 3-4 per cent of the vote”, he said.
According to him, the US has made” clear they no longer support joint projects, and Kosovo is excluded from Defender Europe 23x1>. This, until” will not have high-level Kosovo visits to the US”, he said.
Asked whether Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is part of government policies, if Kurti and Osmani work as a team, Ambassador Havenier has said she does not belong to talk about these dynamics within institutions.
However, Houvenier has mentioned that Osman has stressed the importance of close co-operation with the international community, in particular with the United States.
I believe this is something that she deals with seriously”.
Asked whether Serbia's decision to increase military readiness poses a threat to Kosovo, the US ambassador, Havenier, has said that “is never a good sign” that neighbouring states, with which tense relations are mobilised by their forces.
“Well at this point, we are concerned about the actions of the Government of Kosovo, which have created this crisis atmosphere in the north, so we are looking for them to be addressed”.
US has two requirements for Kosovo
US Ambassador to Pristina Jeffrey Hovenier has said the United States has two requirements for Kosovo Government -- not to insist that the mayors work from municipal buildings, and to withdraw police officials from three municipal buildings in the north.
“We don't understand why alternative locations, or other public buildings, cannot be used for performing their functions”, Houvenier said, citing the example that mayors in the north have sworn in alternative locations.
“We believe that the presence of the Kosovo Police in the building, which has entered the building, is extremely challenging, so we have asked the Government to withdraw police from these three municipal buildings”.
According to Hovenier, taking these two actions will help reduce tensions.
We are very sorry that the situation has come all this way, but I have to be honest, so this is the situation. We hope Prime Minister Kurti will take our advice and take steps immediately towards reducing tensions in the north of”.
According to him, lowering tensions later turns attention to the full implementation of the Agreement for normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
Kosovo and Serbia have agreed on this agreement in February of this year in Brussels, while on the annex of implementation in March.
