KEK performance report testifies to otherwise what Besnik Bislim said

Large and small, from Republika Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, deputy prime minister, Bisnik Bislimi, deputy of office, minister, and, to the militants of the ruling party defiling in television studios, came to the defense of KEK chief Nagip Krasniqi following his arrest as suspected of influence attack, cequming [...]

From the head of state and the entire chain of power, authorities accused justice bodies that Nagip Krasniqi's arrest is politically inclined and that someone is hindering the successes of his management at KEK. Mostly this success of their man, who was sent to KEK, supported by just one indicator, which is the growth of corporate revenues from the sale of electricity.

Economy Minister Artane Rizvanolli stated that in 2022 public companies marked inflow growth of 100m euros compared to 2020, due to good performance, this statement that prompted many reactions, especially for the Kosovo Energy Corporation.

Even without any hesitation in the KEK ministry's report, it was listed as the most profitable company thanks to the record “production of energy”.

But neither does this <x0...

Despite this if we measure his success even with this indicator, it turns out that the failure of this management weighs tens of millions of euros, or exactly 33.9m euros.

This is based on research carried out by Infocus newspaper, which has managed to provide the report approved by the KEK Board for 2022, and compared with the work of the past three years.

Export íssoring electricity in the last four years

Infocus Journal research on reports in the last four years

In KEK's annual report for 2022 has secured Infocus newspaper. The rise in KEK's revenues is the result of the surge in electricity prices in international markets.

But, from reading this report, a failure of this management is understood even at this very point where KEK has failed to realise the production plan according to annual projections.

If KEK had achieved the targets or exported the same amount of electricity as in the previous year of corporate revenues would have been for 33.9 million larger when calculated at the cost of selling, which was the average price of 202 euros for megawat hours of electricity.

KEK, if the mirrors of four years ago are looked at, has exported between 78,000 and 1.1 million megawatt electricity. In 2019 the amount exported was 78,000 megawatts, while the average price was 39 euros. By 2020 the amount exported had reached a record 1.1 million megawatts of electricity. In 2021, 78,000 megawatts, where the average sale price this year was 78 euros for megawatts.

Until 2022, the amount of electricity exported from KEK was the smallest in the last four years, in quantity of only 580,000. This figure is less than the amount exported a year ago for 168,000 megawatts by a little, while the record retail price was 202 euros. If the same amount had been exported in the last year of revenues, it would have scored a profit of 33.9m euros by much.

The Kosovo Energy Corporation in 2022, led by Chief Chief Nagip Krasniqi, has marked the lowest year of performance in the last four years.

According to research that Infocus newspaper has made annual reports of this corporation, which are approved and reported to the shareholder, in this case the Government of Kosovo, it turns out that in the past four years, KEK has never had weaker performance in production and in realisation of capital investments.

According to this production research, from 2018 to 2021, the Kosovo Energy Corporation has spent year after year on the annual plan producing more electricity than planned, until 2022, there is a 4 percent drop in production, less than planned.

Fall of production in 2022

In 2018 the production plan for 3 percent was exceeded in 2019 by 4 %, 2020 for 8%, in 2021 for 4 %, while in 2022, the plan was not accomplished according to production, by -4% or only 96%.

The biggest failure in the last five years in capital investments

The next major failure of the Kosovo Energy Corporation for 2022 is to implement capital projects.

In the 2018-2022 reports, this corporation marks the biggest failures over the years even in this regard.

The implementation of capital projects in 2018 had estimated 60m euros, following 2019 with 35m euros, in 2020 with 36m euros, at 2021m euros, and in 2022m euros.

Capital Investments in the Last Five Years

Why did the KEKs grow up? Government fraud over Nagip Krasniqi's success?

The newspaper Infocus has also provided the annual report of the Kosovo Energy Corporation for 2022, which also mentions failures unless it achieves the goals and planning for the next year. This report mentioned all failures that took place in this corporation in 2022 until any positive achievements were highlighted this year.

This is because even for increasing revenues one of the reasons that the power is using to conceal failures in KEK, the report itself confirms that this is not due to good performance or overcoming plans, but in the report it is said to have occurred for other reasons involving the global crisis in energy prices.

KEK's report confirms that record income growth for 31% more than in 2021 was made due to the reduction of crisis effects on export-related energy prices.

“against challenges from successive crises and almost the same level of production, during 2022 KEC has conducted a record increase in revenues from electricity at $ 66.9 million, or at 31% more than the preceding year (2022: $283.5 million; 2021: $216.6 million). This increase was like the main reflection of the effects of the crisis on energy prices, mainly related to energy exports”, said the report.

For the first time in 5 years KEK subsidised by 50m euros by the government

For the first time in five years, Kosovo's Energy Corporation because of continuing failures, the government has subsidised it to help.

In 2021, the government allocated 20m euros to the corporation, while in 2022, the government subsidised KEK with 30m euros.

This is based on the 2022 report provided by Infocus newspaper.

Job Issues Reduced

Another failure, according to this report, is the reduction of the number of workers. Until 2022, only 3436 workers started with 3628 workers at the end of 2022.

That means KEK shuts down 2022 with 192 fewer workers, writes Infocus newspaper.

We remember that in April 2022, through a public competition at KEK, 128 persons were employed, mostly members of KEK officials and members of the ruling party's party's party militants along with those on the Gex list. That is why fewer than 4 thousand and 668 persons had applied in the competition, relatives of ministers and relatives of Vetevendosje and List Guxo were selected. A competition for which even investigations by the Founding Prosecutor in Pristina have begun.

8.3 million less coal produced

Year 2022 KEK also found it declining -5.2% in coal production or 8.3 million tonnes less.

“KEK has performed an optimum performance by linking the power generation plan with a variation of -2%, as well as the production of coal by -5.2% or 8.3 million tonnes. In 2022, KEK has produced 5.73 million MWh of electricity, which is for about 1%, less than the amount produced in the preceding year (2021: 5.77 million MWh)”, says the report.

Another failure is in the production of sweat and coal. According to the report, it has been produced -39% less sweat than planned. And 5.2% less coal than it planned.
