The Kosovo Democratic Institute has said that any model for association that conflicts with the Constitution is unacceptable and that is incompatible with the guidelines of the Constitutional Court's judgment.
KDI praises Kosovo and Serbia's readiness “to move forward towards normalising relations after agreeing to the Declaration for the Undiscovered and implementing agreement regarding the Association of Serb-based municipality”
Because one of the most acute issues resulting from dialogue is the statute of Association, KDI considers any model presented in dialogue contrary to the Constitution unacceptable and incompatible with the guidelines of the relevant Constitutional Court Act”, said the communique.
“We recall that Kosovo has consistently received guarantees from international factors, in particular from representatives of the European Union and the United States of America, that association will be in full compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo”, said further in the KDI communiqué.
Following proposals on draft status and discussions on alternative association arrangements, KDI reminds the Government of Kosovo that “all actions for the establishment of association should be based on the Constitutional Court's act, as well as implementation of the constitutional principle”.
