Joseph in an interview for Al Jazeera has said Ukraine could be the catalyst in achieving that conclusion.
He also argued that if he knew Kosovo as a state, Spain, Slovakia, Greece and Romania, the Balkan region would be transformed.
The entire Balkan mess, including successive crises in northern Kosovo, ends when 4 NATO countries recognise Kosovo. Ukraine could be the catalyst”.
“Arsey is that five EU states -- namely, four NATO member states because Cyprus is not -- do not recognise Kosovo. That's why the mild stance, and if you're asking why the Balkans still have all these problems with Kosovo, Republika Srpska and now with Montenegro, that's why, even if four of these five countries -- if Cyprus is disfellowshipped, recognises Kosovo, and these are Spain, Slovakia, Greece and Romania -- if only those countries did that, the region would be transformed”, Joseph has stressed in an interview for Al Jazeera.
American professor added that if Kosovo were to join NATO, Serbia could not block it.
Why? Because then Kosovo could join NATO and Serbia could not block it. Suddenly, this Russian and Chinese veto at the UN would be insignificant, because even if Kosovo were not an EU member, it would be a NATO member. Serbia's strategy would be completely useless”.
