Kosovo Police Inspectorate (IPK) has established a joint (inspector/investigative) team to assess police actions during yesterday's police operation in the country's three northern municipalities (Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok).
The decision to create this team, The IPK says it is based on legal mandate under official duty and co-ordination with the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The aim of this team's work is to ensure that Kosovo Police have carried out their constitutional and legal standards and authorisation tasks, towards creating a safe environment for citizens indiscriminately. Also, the team intends to identify whether in this operation there has been overcoming police authorization”, the IPK says in a media report.
The IPK ensures that “, regardless of the findings of the work of this team, conforming legal authorisations and in co-ordination with the Kosovo Police and the State Prosecutor, will address the issues raised”.
We remember that during yesterday, police units have assisted the three mayors of Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok, to enter their official, as the same were blocked by Serb citizens.
To achieve this, police had to intervene on several occasions, especially in Zvecan, where there was tear gas drop to disperse the crowds.
The actions criticised the international community, calling for the government to withdraw immediate from these attempts.
