Hovnier said that association is an essential element in the agreement for normalisation of reports with Serbia, and as such must be implemented to ensure membership in European and Euro-Atlantic structures, writes the online newspaper Reporter.net.
Kosovo has pledged in 2013 to establish the Association of Serb-run municipalities. We have been very clear publicly for a long time and we expect it to be done and it is now more urgent and in time because it is a fundamental element of Kosovo's responsibility and Kosovo's dedication even with the Brussels Agreement, but even when it comes to the agreement to normalise relations”, Hovier said at RTV 21.
We want to see him have moved forward and that urgently and we think it's time now. Not because we are trying to create problems for Kosovo, but instead. We have said very clearly that Kosovo's road to fulfilling its vision as a fully integrated state in European and Euro-Atlantic structures is done only through the implementation of the basic agreement and annexes. And this implies that the urgent task for Kosovo is to establish the Association of Communities with the Serbian Majority”, he said.
When asked about the pressure being put on Kosovo to establish the Association, Havener said the US has only good intentions and that they want to see Kosovo as a <x0-national, sovereign, independent and democratic state”.
The same man added that it is not pressure but encouragement.
Take our best advice into account. Our desire to help Kosovo create the conditions to achieve this common vision”, said Havener.
He said the US welcomes the draft edition of Prime Minister Kurti for Association, but added that it must now enter into practical issues of drafting the statute that implement this vision.
