France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said it is key to Europe's security immediately to halt tensions in northern Kosovo. 30 KFOR soldiers have suffered injuries, while three of them are from firearms during Serb protests in three municipalities in the north -- Leposaviq, Zubin-Potok and Zvecan -- against exercising office within municipal facilities by the new mayors.
The “is more than key than whenever Pristina and Belgrade show responsibility by returning to the negotiating table with compromise access to the service of peace and prosperity for Serbian and Kosovar citizens”, France's MPJ spokeswoman Anna-Claire Legendre has said.
She has called for suspension.
“We cannot accept that regional stability is put at risk given the critical international context. It's a matter of European security”, she added.
France's MPJ has condemned the violence in the north and called on the Kosovo Government in particular “to take the necessary measures to immediately reduce tensions”.
