They show how the FBI, which helped ensure the safety of the monarchy during its visits, was worried about IRA's threats. According to the file, an officer attending an Irish drinker in San Francisco warned federal agents of a phone call from a man he had met there.
The officer said that the person in question told him that he was seeking revenge for his daughter, who had been killed in Northern Ireland. In response to the threat, the secret service closed the crossings on the Golden Gate Bridge as the queen's yacht approached. No details of the arrests by the FBI were published.
He would try to harm Elizabeth Queen and do so either by releasing any artifacts from Golden Gate Bridge on Royal Yacht Britannia, or trying to kill Queen Elizabeth when she visited Yosemite National Park. ” says the document.
