“Crisis Management”, Deputy Borell in Pristina, will manage to find solutions

The situation in the north of the Republic of Kosovo continues to be tense since Friday last week. Despite official Brussels calls for de-passing the situation, the situation has changed. This seems to have even been the reason why Josep Borell has started towards Kosovo one of the most important people [...]
The situation, created in the north of the Republic of Kosovo, raised the concerns of senior European Union officials. The deputy secretary general for the EU's joint defence, Charles Fries, has arrived in Kosovo today, while a meeting of the Committee for Security and Policy in Brussels.
EU High Representative Josep Borell has confirmed that Charles Fries has sent him to Kosovo precisely because of the situation in the north and has confirmed that at the Security Committee meeting, measures will be discussed if Kosovo and Serbia do not listen to Brussels' proposals for the extension of the situation.
Borell, who has long complained that Kosovo-Serbia dialogue is losing focus due to the emerging crises, has said Fries will respond personally to the situation in the north of the Republic of Kosovo.
The chief of European diplomacy today has also held a telephone conversation with the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurtin, who has demanded that police operations be suspended in the country's north.
He has also said he expects even violent protests by local Serbs to stop.
“I expect Kosovo authorities to suspend police operations focused on municipal facilities in the north and violent protests to stop”, Borell has written.
Meanwhile, at a media conference after a meeting with Montenegrin President Borell has clarified that he has urged Kosovo and Serbia to take measures to de-execut the situation immediately and unconditionally.
“You asked both sides to take measures to escalate tensions immediately and unconditionally. And unilateral steps must be avoided and calm restored. As a first step, I expect Kosovo authorities to suppress police operations focused on municipal objects in the north and violent protests to stop”, Borrell has declared, at a conference he held after meeting with Montenegro's president.
Borell has also indicated that it is making efforts to organise an urgent high-level meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Alexander Vucic.
Currently, there is no announcement from institutions in Kosovo, including the EU, what is happening to Frie's visit, and with whom he is discussing <x0 steps towards suspension”.
