Directors of this room at a media conference have stressed that expensive property tax will be a serious blow to businesses in the country.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board ( D TIK), Skender Krasniqi has blamed the Government of Kosovo for lack of co-operation with businesses in meeting the country's amendments to laws, especially the one for real estate.
Krasniqi has stressed that the situation behind the Devid-19 pandemic, and Russian aggression in Ukraine, businesses are in a difficult situation.
In this respect, he has voiced his concern over the government's lack of co-operation with businesses. He has even invited Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Finance Minister Iron Murati to be near the business community. In addition, Krasniqi has responded to the government in the way the project is implemented “SuperPuna”
“We like the Chamber of Commerce want to express public concern for the lack of sufficient co-operation with Kosovo institutions regarding the poor situation of doing business in Kosovo. We invite the prime minister, Albin Kurti, ministers, and especially Finance Minister Iron Murati to visit us and discuss more before making such decisions or proposals for amending laws or completing laws that are going without a response or adequate co-operation with” businesses, Krasniqi said.
Former Education Minister Bytyqi has also said that re-evaluating property for residents is not real estimates.
He said that with the change of the Law on Property expected to have progressive degrees and increased property tax will greatly negatively affect the development of business sustainability in Kosovo.
“From meeting the change of the Law on Property, which is expected to have progressive degrees and increased property tax will greatly negatively affect the development of business sustainability in Kosovo”, he stressed.
Bytyqi has also explained the increase in property tax from 200,000 to 700 thousand euros.
At this media conference, Board Chairman Krasniqi also stressed that they are concerned about the way the project is implemented “SuperPuna”
He stressed that businesses are being conditioned to benefit from this project, which, according to him, most businesses are failing to get support from “SuperPuna”
Even Arsim Selmonmusaj of BTIC said that if the Kosovo government continues with these neighbourhood policies, there is the danger that businesses will leave the country.
The real estate tax bill is in the Kosovo Assembly, which has passed first reading at the Commission for Buzhet. The increase in property taxes in some cases has even increased by more than 700 percent from January this year, which has been rejected by citizens, opposition, and businesses.
