He added after meetings with the heads of state that relations between the two states are excellent. According to him, British soldiers will be in Kosovo for another three years, all to preserve Kosovo's security and sovereignty.
The minister acknowledged there are many challenges, but it must continue to work together with all responsible ones in this regard.
I am so glad to be here in Kosovo today. I just had great meetings with the president and the prime minister. Our relationships are stable. We have been here since 1999 and have supported you on every step of the road since then. The UK will continue its presence in KFOR for another three years, as a sign of support for your security, sovereignty and freedom”.
There are challenges, of course, but we are very clear in the position that relates to security challenges here. We will continue to work with you to solve the security problems that exist and make sure that you are free and secure at your borders”.
“We have generally talked about security problems in the country, about the role the United Kingdom can play and should play in solving them, and of course Kosovo's imminent ambition that is part of the EU and NATO, and of course both organisations require consistency. The United Kingdom is committed to seeing Kosovo in that direction as far as the circumstances allow”. Heappey met during the day with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
