According to him, it should be considered to increase the number of KFOR troops in Kosovo in the shadow of the current situation.
“Recent events and attacks on KFOR/NATO soldiers, as well as on civilians in northern Kosovo cities, are irresponsible and represent a new low level in the exasperated relations of Serbia and Kosovo. Such unprotested attacks on the peacekeeping force must be punished in the harshest terms possible”.
He has also said these tensions are further evidence that all parties involved should eventually return to the negotiating table.
yesterday's “Sulmet also make it clear that KFOR is still needed after 24 years to provide stability and security. An increase in the existing contingent of troops must also be considered in light of the current situation, so that it is able to intervene more decisively in case of emergency. In doing so, KFOR's mission is and remains impartial in its mission for democracy and security, and does not recognise skin color, religion or ethnic affiliation”, he has said in a communique issued to the media.
