Xhafer Tahiri from LDK: I believe the Constitutional Court will bring down the Law for the Pagan

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has welcomed the Ombudsman's move to submit the Law for Salaries to the public sector to the Constitutional Court. From this party, they expect the Constitution to bring down this law, which entered into force in February of this year. The ombudsman had accepted 104 complaints from subjects of [...]
The ombudsman had accepted 104 complaints from various public sector subjects concerning this law, so he sent it to the Constitution on Friday, with a request for assessing its compliance with the Constitution. The accepted polls were said to have largely to do with lowering cofficients, resulting in reductions in wages, removal of additions or inadequate treatment, and not equal among positions defined by law.
Democratic League of Kosovo headship member Xhafer Tahiri said the Kosovo government did not only fail to raise salaries in the public sector, but did great injustice through the wage law to workers in this sector.
He believes the Constitutional Court will bring down this law so that employees in the public sector have dignified salaries and no discrimination among them.
This government not only fails to raise salaries in the public sector as was the demand of workers in the public sector, but also did a huge injustice to the Law of Pay by creating a accordion and violating the rights of workers in the public sector... We believe that the Constitutional Court will give justice, bring down this law and preserve the rights of workers in the public sector so that their salary will be dignified for the work they do and also not have so much discrimination in the public sector as this government has proposed. Therefore, we expect the Constitutional Court to reverse this law by once again proving that this government continues to be a serial, repeat, recivilist Constitution”, Tahiri says.
According to Tahiri, the ombudsman institution has found enough elements showing the Law for Salaries has violated human freedoms and rights.
He says this law has been submitted to the Constitutional Court by a ombudsman who has been elected by this government.
The people's “Avicta has found enough elements that there are violations of human freedoms and rights for this law to be finalised at the Constitutional Court. It is this ombudsman who has been appointed by this government, not by another government, once again the Constitutional Court will confirm that the Government of Kosovo is unfortunately recivilistic when it comes to violating the Constitution”, he said.
With the Law for Salaries, the value of the public sector's pay cofficiency is set to be 105 euros, which sparked numerous reactions, despite claims by government officials that there was an increase.
On February 5, 2023, after a process, which, according to the ombudsman, has not been a transparent, responsible and nor democratic process, the Law for Pays has entered into force.
