Warned in April, EU Still Without Accurate Date for Next Kurti-Vucciq Summit

The European Union still does not have a date for the next meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Alexander Vuciq, why it was warned that it would be held during April. EU spokesman Peter Stano in an answer has not confirmed a date regarding the next [level] meeting.

EU spokesman Peter Stano in a reply has not confirmed a date regarding the upcoming summit between the Kosovo and Serbian sides.

We can't confirm anything. We always let the details know in case”, Stano said February to Reporter.net.

But, that a political summit will be held during the month of April, Prime Minister Kurti said last week, where he named it a forward approach in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

The Online Reporter.net has also contacted the Kosovo government's spokesman, Kryeziu Progress, but the same has not responded.

While on the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi said that a meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi had been agreed by the EU to happen on April 22nd.

However, according to Bislim, it was the Serbian president who refused such a thing, with the reason he could not travel to Brussels on this date.

The next <x0m> in Brussels has been setting the date for the next summit. Lajcak has proposed that the summit date be April 22nd. Prime Minister Kurti has agreed, but then from Serbia's president has come the announcement that he cannot travel on April 22nd. Now we're looking for an alternative date”, Bislim said.

After the Ohrid Agreement, a meeting between the two sides was the one between Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and Office for Kosovo Director in Serbia Government Petar Petkovic in Brussels.

There, the parties arrived on April 4th for the declaration of missing persons, which European diplomacy chief Josep Borrell named as the first step of the Ohrid Agreement.

On the other hand, although there was no signing in Ohrid on April 18th, the EU has said the agreements are legally binding.

It is Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, the one who has already repeated that he will implement some parts of the agreement, but some will not agree.

The European Union has made it clear yesterday that Kosovo and Serbia are obliged to implement all provisions of the Agreement for normalisation of relations, along with the annex for it, as they will otherwise face consequences.

EU spokesman Peter Stano has said that the implementation level will be clearly monitored, and if parts of the Agreement are not implemented, there will be consequences for Serbia's travel towards the EU, but also financial consequences.

“Monitore of implementation on the ground, of the actions of the parties, will be the main tool of the European Union, member states and the international community to judge progress, whether or not the agreement is alive. And of course there will be consequences. There will be political consequences, reputation consequences, but also financial consequences“has he said.
