The country's president, Vjosa Osmani, is awaiting an end to the terms of complaints in order to decree the chief prosecutor. All this expectations, according to the Presidency, are being done in order to have no judicial obstacles in this process.
President Osmani's adviser, Blerim Vela, said the terms of the complaints ended at the end of April, when the way will be opened to decree the chief prosecutor.
We have four months. So the deadline is until the end of April. If I'm not wrong until April 27th, Mr. Isufaj's counterconventions have a right to complaint, but we don't want to judge whether they will complain. The President's position has been public and we have announced the Prosecutorial Council. We didn't want to intervene on these issues until it was in Constitutional and then in the Supreme”, Vela said in an interview for Telegrafi.
“As soon as this process is completed, the president will appear in public in a very early term with her decision”, said further.
The chief of the presidency cabinet says the prosecutorial council has completed its work at the moment of Isufaj's nomination for the chief prosecutor.
We already have a tendency outside any legal and constitutional rating when sending letters to the President to decree the chief prosecutor”.
Kosovo's Prosecutorial Council announced on Wednesday that it has asked Kosovo Republic President Vjosa Osmani, the decree of Blerim Isufaj in the position of chief state prosecutor.
According to the Prosecutorial Council, the president should decree Isufaj in this position, since, according to them, all legal ways have been taken which have resulted in the process of recruiting the chief state prosecutor's position being fair and legitimate.
However, the presidency has considered this KKP request without any legal basis.
From the presidency, this Council request has been seen as ultimatum. As such, it is said in response, it does not contribute to strengthening the integrity of the prosecutorial system in Kosovo.
We remember that already nearly a year, Kosovo is with the task of chief state prosecutor. Since April 2022, President Osmani has not decided about the candidate for the chief prosecutor, proposed by the Prosecutorial Council.
