State media in Syria reported explosions in the vicinity of the capital Damascus after Israel said its forces continued to strike Syrian territory after six rockets were thrown overnight towards the Golan Heights.
Israel declared that artillery attacks and fears hit missiles and were followed by air strikes against a Syrian army complex and military radar systems.
The Israeli army “sees Syria state responsible for all activities taking place within its territory and will not allow any attempts to violate Israeli sovereignty”, Israeli Defence Forces said in a statement.
