The Association of Mathematicians of Kosovo has announced that Kosovo has been denied participation in the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad.
That is because of the deadlock Kosovo has made to Serbia.
The Kosovo Mathematics Association has applied to the MASSEE (The Mathematical Society of South Eastern Europe) to enable participation in the Balkan Mathematics Olympiad (BMO) students from Kosovo. Kosovo has tried to membership in MASSEE even before but unfortunately our demands have been consistently rejected because of Serbia's blocking approach to MASSEE”, the report said.
The Kosovo Mathematics Association has applied this year to MASSE for participation in the BMO, in the hope that the recent agreement between Kosovo and Serbia will be respected, where it is said Serbia will not exactly prevent Kosovo's membership in any regional or international organisation. But unfortunately, Serbia's representatives refuse to respect this agreement, while the European Union is guarantor of its implementation”, the announcement concludes.
