To the east of the Russian peninsula, Kathhatka has erupted the Shivelutch volcano. A powerful volcanic cloud moves west of the volcano, and any moment there may be ash explosions up to 15 miles [15 km] high. The volcanic cloud lies between the two villages of Kljutshi and Kosyrevsk 70 kilometers apart. International air traffic is in danger. Flights between Japan and the United States can be canceled.
