Today was a frowning day inside me. Usually on this day of the year, I have been taught, for years, to wish my birthday as my brother, the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci. And the barrier to happy birthday to a loved one, alive and taken hostage under familiar circumstances, not from dark and unknown forces, but from the International High Community, has been on my head all day long as a grim, weary void. I didn't want to make a digital wish in the morning with the picture and the words that are spoken to someone you can even call, I don't know, a cramp in my throat stopped me, a rage out of powerlessness. I have no idea if as my brother can read these lines today, which are not even hungry enough to live as many mountains of Albania as I am, but I know for sure that on this birthday of Hashim Thaci I have the entire day that lies like nails in my brain asking: Did they, our great friends who gave birth to that court, know that its history would develop this way, so grimly unjust to people who fought for the freedom of their people and for Kosovo itself? I'm afraid the truth about this will never know. But maybe I'm afraid of the scars inside me that I couldn't wish Hashim a birthday by phone, as I've been taught for many years. And 100 Commander.
