Prosecutor: We Do Not Judge KLA, only four indictees

Although in the indictment they have framing as “joint criminal enterprise”, the special prosecutor at the Special Court says the original judicial process does not prosecute the Kosovo Liberation Army as a whole but only four of its former leaders: Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. “We do not proceed KLA, and we do not accuse all members [...]
“The KLA, and we don't accuse all its members, it's not true. The charges are brought against four people for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Most KLA members had nothing to do with this. This court case has nothing to do with what these four four” have done, said Alex Whiting, the Special Prosecutor's Task Agent.
I'm putting together a summary of the power evidence they exercised in 1998-1999, then we outline the common criminal goal, then the practice of crimes according to common criminal intent. In the conclusion, we summarize by focusing on all four of the accused”, he said.
This court case has to do with the rule of the wartime law. That's why we're here today. In times of war, danger and the intensity of conflict can lead to the use of illegal means. That's why we have the laws of war to curb the worst instincts that surface in times of war”, he continued, says Inseder.
Rexhep Selimi: I'm innocent of all the points of the indictment.
Kadri Wessel: I'm completely innocent.
Krasniqi: I find it hard to understand the charge and the way this indictment has been compiled. I have no connection with any of the points the prosecutor read to her. I understand the accusation, but I don't agree with him, because I don't hold any responsibility he holds in the indictment. I'm completely innocent.
Officially, the trial process has begun against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders at the Special Court in The Hague.
