The specialised prosecution said that through evidence it would testify that the KLA had hierarchy and that the four accused had authority in the respondent Staff.
Prosecutor Alex Whiting said Hashim Thaci during questioning at The Hague has testified that the General Staff has been <x0 dysfunctional” and only “on paper”. However, he said these claims would be rejected during the trial.
Meanwhile, specialised prosecutor Matthew Halling has launched a history of how the KLA was created. He said the KLA swelled from the Kosovo People's Movement (LPK) that “believed freedom for Albanians could be gained only through force” and was contrary to the policy the LDK followed, which was peaceful resistance.
He also cited some of the statements made by the earliest defendants in the media regarding the General Staff and the KLA itself, presenting also interviews given to various newspapers.
Thaci, Veselin and Selimi, according to the prosecution, founded “The General Staff and launched this joint criminal enterprise”, and Krasniqi was a member of the political directorate.
Protection of the defendants earlier has said the KLA had no organisation.
