Professors Lack and a large number of students at Medical School

Now, it has been a long time since, reportedly, that the problem of major disparagement between the number of hours of lectures and exercise at the Medical Faculty.

As a result, such a situation has brought the Faculty of Medicine into the situation: Currently, the faculty functions contrary to the ruling in power of the UPI Steering Council for the maximum number of students for the legal group.

According to them, there are more than 30 education assistants with the scientific title of the Science Doctor reached up to more than a decade ago, who meet the conditions needed for elections in the assistant professor's call but who have been unable to do so because of the non-fulfillment of the weekly teaching rate within the academic year.

The proposals for changing the weekly teaching rate within the academic year, as criteria for announcing the competition for appointment, reappointed and advancing academic personnel in the academic call assistant professor are attempts of the current UPI management to address the solution of the above problem at the Faculty of Medicine. The proposals were made after comprehensive consultations with the Faculty of Medicine management, current teaching assistants involved, and the UPP Steering Council”, the report said.

It also points out that the strengthening option of the current Council's decision would confront the Faculty of Medicine with inexplicable infrastructure challenges due to the enormous growth of the number of teaching groups, which would result in the immediate increase in numbers of educational objects and the immediate increase in lecture hours whose coverage would be incompatible to the Pristina University budget.

“So, it is estimated that the proposed option for changing the set rate week is one of the options that could address the problem in the economically more favourable way for UP's and it's affordable to UP budget”.

The total teaching class for young assistants would increase to 10 hours a week (2 hours of lectures and 8 hours of exercise) from 6 hours to now.

“Such practice would reduce needs for new assistant positions, economicise and motivate existing academic staff, as well as enable and facilitate the accreditation of more teaching programmes”, it further says.

The other option under consideration is the general annulment of the difference between classes of lectures and exercise at the Faculty of Medicine.

In view of their specific field of clinical study, then straining the current decision of the Steering Council to limit the maximum number of students for legal groups, despite its persistent opposition from the Faculty of Medicine management to the option of keeping the status quo, not addressing the problem from the UPG's <x> management at all.

The Faculty of Justice says it has assessed that the last option -- that of maintaining the status quo -- is the most unfavourable for the public image of the University of Pristina, for its needs, for managing and motivating its internal academic staff, and finding the solution that is economically effective.

“Of course, any option approved remains subject to rigorous implementation of criteria related to quality requirements and candidates' merits for academic statuteial calls”.

Under new conditions created with increased public interest on the above problem, we are willing to consider further the problem discussed above on the basis of consultation with the respective academic unit. In this context, we've asked the Medical Faculty management to offer a concrete proposal as an approach to finding a final solution”, it says in the end.
