“Some MiG-29 have already been sent. They are really useful for Ukraine in protecting our collective security”, said Polish President Marcin Przydacz's deputy for local radio station RMF FM.
Last month, Poland became first member NATO promised aircraft for Ukraine.
Before Russia's full invasion in February 2022, Ukraine had several dozen MiG-29 inherited after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, but it is unclear how many remain in service after more than a year of fighting.
Ukraine's air force has familiarised itself with MiG-29 and can use aircraft immediately.
Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has repeatedly asked Western countries for fighter planes, but NATO allies have shown restraint, citing concerns about the escalation of the alliance's role in war.
