Pale Campaigns for North Elections

The election campaign for mayors of the northern municipalities in the extraordinary elections is not being conducted as usual. This time she's quite pale. Although the deadline for the four municipalities in the north has begun, that time is quite dim. Certificate candidates for participation in the extraordinary elections for mayors of the northern municipalities have started a citizen meeting here. Candidate of The PDK for chairman of Zubin Potok, Izmir Zeqiri, told Radio Kosovo that they are currently establishing several electoral bodies and that he is meeting with residents of the village of Caber, since there is his electorate, in the majority Serb municipality. Zeqiri says they are waiting for the government to be more active in this regard.

Let's see in the process, I'm seeing that something is going slowly on the state or government side. No enthusiasm at all. There should be. I don't have a problem with making elections. Every day I meet with citizens, but I'm talking only about one polling station in the village of Caber“, Izmir Zeqiri said.

Taulant Kelmendi, also candidate from the PDK-for chairman of northern Mitrovica, says this time the campaign is much different.

Because of the specifics of this part, the campaign is not running intensively as early as it was. This is due to the situation created last year before elections. Even now, after the burning of vehicles, the attack on police and calls for boycotts, there is a dose of fear among citizens for participation in the elections, even though the mood has to participate. Therefore, the campaign is being carried out on a daily basis, with physical and electronic communication with activists, friends and residents of this section”, Kelmendi's response sent Radio Kosovo said.

Leposaviqi's presidential candidate, Aleksandar Jablanovic, from the Kosovo “Serbs party”, has not been accessible during the day.

Otherwise, Valmir Elez, the CEC spokesman, has announced that the CEC will hold the next meeting tomorrow. “During tomorrow, Thursday, the CEC will hold the next meeting and, of course, there will be an announcement concerning the perfect performance of election preparations of April 23rd”, Elesi has announced.

The CEC had decided from April 4th to April 21st that the campaign for extraordinary municipal elections will be held on April 23rd.
