Ombudsman: Attacks on Journalists mar constitutional rights

Syla was attacked late Tuesday evening in Pristina's SunBreg district. He reported being attacked by three people and sustained head injuries and medical treatment.

Ombudsman Naim Qeyaj said this attack is unacceptable and the violation of freedom of expression and media freedom in Kosovo.

“Vulmet verbal or physical against journalists, threats through social networks or in any other form violate constitutional rights for the safety of journalists and media”.

The ombudsman draws attention to the need for effective protection of journalists from any form of security breach and preventing free exercise of the profession. The cell invites competent bodies to investigate and illuminate this case, and put the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
