Oil Price Lowered but Not Public Transport Tickets

In recent months the price of derivatives has begun to be lowered in Kosovo, but the price of public transportation tickets in the country has not decreased, but has remained the same. Travel tickets across the country a year ago had marked risings, at the time of the price of oil to 1.90 euros, as a result of [...]

Travelers from various regions in Kosovo say that after the oil price is cut even the price of tickets, as they add that for student travelers, it is unaffordable.

Even oilmen's association directors have confirmed the decrease in the price of derivatives, and have called on all businesses and economic operators to reflect on price reductions.

Traveler from Junik, Florent Red, says the price of the Junik bus ticket in Pristina is 5 euros, while stressing that this price is unaffordable to students.

“Biletes must be down, as the price of oil has been lowered, for reasons that Kosovo is little small and has very few employees... From Junik to Pristina, the ticket is 5 euros. For some citizens it is unaffordable, because there are many students going from Yunik to Pristina, Peja and dependent on the resolution, which is”, he said.

Jevdet Spahia, says tickets of more than 5 euros, are affordable for parents who finance children during their studies in distant places.

The price of the tickets, of buses, has had to be released, because oil has been released, gas has been released and because it has been expensive when it's expensive and oil, now let them release these. For students, 5 euros in tickets -- from Peja, Gjakova -- to come to Pristina is expensive, and the parent who needs to finance that child has problems. Perhaps he has two three children, at the same time in his studies, it's unaffordable”, he stressed.

Sheref Tepek, while complaining of the high price of tickets, considers that the pricework from bus lines looks like business.
