On Tuesday, the hearing of the second witness to the Special Court Specialised Prosecutor's Office in the case of Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi has continued.
A day earlier (Monday) completed the first witness witness as the second started, initially interviewed by the SPS.
The prosecution has asked him for 7 hours to interview the witness, protect the victims for 15 minutes and protect the accused for 12 hours.
Witness, former Kosovo Liberation Army soldier, was asked by SPS for his activity in the Democratic League of Kosovo
While the testimony of the second witness continued most of the time at private session, during the public hearing, this witness said he had done work on the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) until he was part of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK). While adding that from the KLA Political Directorate in Malisheva, pressure had been exerted on the LDK to shut down its activity.
I was just a member. I've done LDK work, I've worked, I've set up”, the witness said.
Asked by prosecutor James Pace how other KLA members who were aware of this have reacted, he said he had been asked to step down but had not back down.
“They have been calling me back, but I am not afraid because I had the support, and I had the authority”, he said.
Initially, the witness acknowledged that he had continued to be part of the LDK even after it was locked in the KLA.
On the other hand, he said there were soldiers who did not recognise the parallel institutions, but who, according to him, a large part of soldiers and leaders have recognised them.
Similarly, the witness said that in April 1998, relations between the LDK and the KLA had not been very good.
The “were not very good, the LDK's relations with the unit in Malisheva, even though it was a large section locked up with the Kosovo Liberation Army, but it wasn't exactly the same reports as to how to have sound, good” reports told me, the same one, adding that by the NLA's Political Directorate in Malisheva, it was pressured to stop its activity.
Otherwise, the rest of the session has continued with private session, which has been concluded for the day and is expected to continue with the hearing of the same witness tomorrow.
