High schools will continue until May 11th and will focus on northern and southern Sweden, as well as on the important strategic island of Gottland. Soldiers from the US, Britain, Finland, Poland, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Denmark, Austria, Germany and France most of these countries are members of NATO.
Finland officially became NATO's 31st member on April 4th, but Sweden's candidacy, which must be approved by all other member states, faces obstacles from Turkey and Hungary. Turkey mainly blames Stockholm for refusing to extradite dozens of activists or individuals indicted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as involved in the 2016 coup attempt, the Oranews broadcasts.
Western diplomats hope the Turkish president will change his mind if he wins elections next month, or that his successor will give <x0 Green Window” Sweden.
